BALTS' ROAD

2017-01-30 │ THE APPLICATION OF PROJECT "BALTS' ROAD" HAS BEEN APPROVED

National Region's Development Agency, Public body Siauliai tourism information centre with four partners from Latvia submitted an application to Interreg V-A Latvia – Lithuania Programme 2014-2020 the project “Balts' Road” to achieve a sustainable and clean environment cooperation. The application of project "Balts‘ Road“ has been approved.
The main aim of this project is to increase number of visitors to the Programme area by creating cross-border objective itinerary cultural “Balts' Road”. We want to introduce Lithuanian and Latvian cultural heritage, unique traditions and colorful nature to the whole world.

National Region's Development Agency, Public body Siauliai tourism information centre, Zemgale Planning region, Kurzeme Planning region, Jelgava City Council and Talsi Country Municipality submitted an application to Interreg V-A Latvia – Lithuania Programme 2014-2020 the project “Balts' Road” to achieve a sustainable and clean environment cooperation.
The project will directly contribute to the objective (1.1) of the Programme “to increase number of visitors to the Programme area through improving and developing cultural and natural heritage objects, services and products”. The main aim of the project is to increase number of visitors to the Programme area by creating cross-border objective itinerary cultural “Balts' Road”. In order to reach this objective, following sub-objectives were set:
To increase the acquaintance and awareness raising about preservation of Balts’ tangible and intangible cultural and natural heritage;

To develop new innovative and sustainable touristic product;
To improve quality and to ensure diversification of cultural tourism services, products and accessibility.
During this project partners will hold informative seminars, participate in fairs and exhibitions about Balts regions, organise trainings for stakeholders. Also, develop interactive entertainments such as Baltic village reconstruction in virtual reality, which takes users back in time into ancient Balts’ village and entertainment called “Magic mirror” that uses biometrical readings to identify age and gender of the user. According to this information system assigns certain ancient profession to the user and he/she sees himself on the screen in corresponding clothing.
So, “Balts’ Road” project increase attractiveness, visibility and number of tourists arrivals in Lithuanian and Latvian regions. Also, this project improves relations between these two countries.
